East Brunswick Township operates two park and ride facilities for commuters. People who are seeking to travel intrastate can do so via one of Suburban’s many bus routes to New York City’s Port Authority Bus Terminal.  The Transportation and Commerce Center is located at 290 Rt 18 North (operates Monday-Friday) and the Neilson Plaza (operates 7 days a week) is located at 7 Tower Center Blvd.  Both lots have daily and monthly permit parking spaces.  Residents of East Brunswick are charged $21.40 and non-residents are charges $42.80 for a monthly parking permit or $3 daily rate at the Transportation and Commerce Center.  At Neilson Plaza, resident monthly parking is $26.75 and non-residents is $58.85.  Daily parking is $4 per day.  There is a waiting list for a monthly parking permit at each lot.  Applications are available to East Brunswick residents only.  Surburban Transit provides continuous rush hour service every five minutes for commuters at each location.  Buses travel either directly to New York City’s Port Authority Bus Terminal or downtown Manhattan. In addition, residents who need to travel to Newark or Kennedy Airports can do so by parking at Neilson and catching the Princeton Airporter van located next door at the Hilton Hotel.

The East Brunswick Sewerage Authority created by the Township in 1956 is an autonomous agency responsible for the operation and maintenance of the sanitary sewer system in the Township of East Brunswick.

The EBSA system is comprised of approximately 350 miles of underground pipes and 22 pumping stations. Our average daily flow is 4.5 million gallons. EBSA is a collection system only, serving residential and commercial properties in the Township. All EBSA flow is delivered to the Middlesex County Utilities Authority (MCUAS) in Sayreville for treatment.

EBSA bills our residential customers and small commercial customers on an annual basis. Payments are due on a quarterly basis during the months of January, April, July and October. Our larger commercial and industrial customers are billed on a water use basis and receive a quarterly bill based on a water meter reading.

TAXES, WATER UTILITY

The Revenue Office of East Brunswick receives property tax and water payment and issues dog and cat licenses. Property taxes are billed once a year and payment is in a sequence of four quarters. Interest charges accrue after a ten-day grace period if payments are late. Water utility payments are billed three times a year based on actual readings. Residents who receive estimated readings may contact the Revenue Office to have their bills corrected to an actual self-reading.
Dogs and cats are required to be licensed each year on or before January 31. There is a $3.00 fine if your cat or dog is not licensed by the due date. Residents must provide proof their dog or cat has received the necessary vaccinations and has been neutered.

 

VOTER REGISTRATION
Anyone wishing to register to vote must be 18 years of age on or before the next general election; must have resided in the county at least 30 days and must register at least 21 days prior to an election.
A person who moves must re-register to vote. When an individual changes names due to marriage, divorce or Judgment of Court, the person must re-register.
Anyone may register at the Municipal Clerk's office Monday through Friday 9:00 am - 5:00 pm. You may also register at the Library Reference Desk in the evening and on weekends during their hours of operation. For further voter information, please call 732 390-6850.

PASSPORT APPLICATION
The East Brunswick Clerk's office has been designated as a Passport Application Acceptance Office. Applicants can apply Monday through Friday 10:00 am to 3:00 pm. The East Brunswick Public Library accepts applications on Monday through Sunday in the administration office. For further information please call 732 390-6850, or the library 732 390-6761.

GETTING MARRIED?
The Municipal Clerk's office in the Township of East Brunswick is the office to obtain a marriage license.
The following is the process for obtaining a marriage license in East Brunswick:

1. The Municipal Clerk's office takes applications for marriage licenses by appointment only Mon - Thurs 9:30 am - 11:30 am, & 2:30 pm - 4:30 pm.
2. If the bride lives in East Brunswick and is being married in New Jersey, the couple must apply in East Brunswick. If the bride and groom live out of New Jersey but the marriage is taking place in East Brunswick, they would apply in East Brunswick. If the marriage is taking place in New Jersey but the bride lives out of the state and the groom lives in East Brunswick, they would also apply for their license in East Brunswick.
It is recommended that any couple contemplating marriage should contact the Municipal Clerk's office at 390-6850 at least 2 weeks prior for further information and/or appointment, or review the information on the website.
