Directs and oversees all township financial activity, including financial
planning, revenue collection, assessments of properties, the parking utility,
payment of salaries and wages, investment or transfer of funds and securities,
and assessment appeals hearings.

The Department of Planning & Engineering is involved in short and long term
planning, Economic Development, Capital Improvement program development, Civil
Engineering, Surveying, Housing, Property Maintenance and Zoning Code Enforcement,
and Construction Inspection.
The planning functions include: staffing the Zoning Board and Planning Board, coordinating the review of development applications, collection and manipulation of demographic data, landscape review and design. This department also serves as liaison with the Census Bureau, performs Site Plan Review and Design, responds to zoning inquiries from the public and administers the Tree Removal Ordinance. Staff support is provided to the Rent Leveling Board, the East Brunswick Community Housing Corporation, Middlesex County Housing Community Development Committee and the Environmental Commission. In addition, staff administers the Rent Leveling Ordinance and provides residents with information on New Jersey Landlord and Tenant Law as well as sources of housing assistance.
The Division of Engineering is responsible for Capital Improvement Design, including liaison with necessary consultants, contract management and inspection, review of development applications for compliance with engineering standards and maintenance of tax maps. Staff support is provided to the Transportation Advisory Committee.
The Construction Inspection Division administers and enforces State
Regulations relating to the construction, alteration, renovation, rehabilitation,
maintenance, occupancy and use of buildings and structures.

The Department of Public Safety directs and coordinates the administration of
all programs and activities within its area of responsibility, including the
Division of Police. Police Operations include uniformed patrol, criminal and
non-criminal investigations, traffic patrols, and the maintenance of traffic
signs and traffic lights. Also included are school crossing guards, crime
prevention, juvenile aid, school resource officers and DARE.
The Department of Public Safety also provides emergency communications for
coordinating the activities of the local volunteer fire companies and rescue
squad. It also provides disaster control preparation, alarm registration and
animal control services.

Directs and coordinates all programs
and activities of the department including street repair and sweeping, water
production and distribution, snow and ice control, solid waste and recycling
collection, leaf collection and construction maintenance of municipal property,
vehicles and equipment.

Provide, maintain and repair playgrounds, playfields, indoor and outdoor
recreational facilities, public parks and public lands. Plant, trim and remove
trees and shrubs on public property including all public rights-of-way.
Coordinate the planning, acquisition and development of park properties and
other public lands. Designate by journal and maintain inventory of the various
parks and public lands. Provide and direct a Park Ranger Program to enforce the
provisions of RGO Chapter 158 and rules and regulations adopted to govern Parks
and public lands usage. Manage the operations of the Crystal Springs Family
Aquatic Center Utility. Formulate and prepare community park plans and reports.
Submit an annual report documenting the activities and accomplishments of the
Department of Parks and Public Works as it relates to the preservation,
maintenance, planning acquisition and development of parks.

located in the township's public elementary schools.

multi-disciplinary staff of the Department provides a myriad of services,
programs and information and referral for East Brunswick seniors and their
families. The Department also directs a
very active and vital Senior Center located at Civic Center Drive.
