If you are 60 years of age or older and a resident of East Brunswick, you may be interested in joining the Senior Citizens Center!
East Brunswick's Department on Aging seeks to create an atmosphere that
acknowledges the value of human life and affirms the dignity and self-worth of
the older adult. The Department provides an accessible system of services to
seniors and their families to help maintain their independence. Included in this system are the services
that provide maximum access, community, home, and nutrition support.
The Center is barrier-free and handicap accessible. The building boasts a large
multi-purpose room, kitchen and dining area, craft and game rooms and a
comfortable lounge area for relaxing. Parking is easily accessible. Hours are: Mon
- Fri, 9:00 am to 4:00 pm. Daily transportation to and from the Center and for
certain special activities is available.
A daily lunch is available for a small charge.

Did you know that the Department on Aging, besides directing our very active
Senior Center,
provides a myriad of other services to the residents of East Brunswick?

The East Brunswick Department of Aging is staffed with knowledgeable
professionals eager to help you and your family.
Activities,
Programs and Services
Advocacy: The Department
serves as an advocate for senior citizens as well as a liaison for seniors to
the vast array of entitlement programs, PAAD, Home Energy Assistance Rebate,
Social Security, Medicare, Senior Housing, Home Health Care, etc.
Support Groups: Groups
specifically for bereavement, caregivers, living alone and other specialty
groups.
SHIP: Counselors (State Health
Insurance Programs) are available to assist seniors and comparing supplements
to Medicare insurance policies.
East Brunswick Home Delivered Meals:
In a joint program with the Middlesex County Office on Aging a hot
meal is provided on a daily basis to homebound seniors 60 yrs and older. For
further information call the Center.

Related Services
Blood Pressure check every Monday from 9:00 am to 12:00 pm. No advance appointment necessary and the
service is free.
Podiatrist is scheduled at the Center on a monthly basis. Call 732 390-6896 to make your first
appointment.
Exercise Classes are held several days a week. Check the calendar in the newsletter for times.
Dance classes, Yoga are scheduled.
Flu Shots, mammogram and prostate screening are provided
periodically. Watch for announcements.
Speakers monthly are scheduled discussing health related issues.
Personal
Services
Men’s haircuts are every Monday from 1:00 pm to 4:00 pm. No
appointment is necessary. Fee. Women’s haircuts are every Tuesday from 11:00 am
to 12:00 pm. Please call in advance for
an appointment. Fee.
Manicures are every Monday from 12:00 pm to 2:30 pm. Please call in advance for an appointment.
Fee.
Therapeutic massages are also available.

Additional
Services
English as a second language (ESL) for foreign born adults, from
beginners to advanced who wish to learn or improve their English. This program is offered through the E.
Brunswick Community Education Program.
Income Tax Filing- from February 1st through April 15th. Trained volunteer preparers.
Membership
There is no membership fee.
(Contributions to the Friends of the Senior Center are appreciated.)
Applications are available Monday-Friday 9:00 am-4:00 pm. You must be an East
Brunswick resident 60 years or older.
Photo ID’s are taken the 1st Friday of each month from 10:00
am to 12:00 pm. The cost is $2.00 for the photo and $2.00 for a replacement card.
Membership
Policies
The various programs and activities sponsored by the Department of Aging
are primarily for residents of East Brunswick over the age of 60 who are
registered with the Senior Center.
In order to be a registered member of the Senior Center, the applicant must
present proof of residency, which include the following:
Drivers License
Mortgage or Rent Receipt
Utility Bill
Doctor, Dentist or Hospital Bill
Social Security Check
Library Card
If no documentation is available, you will be registered as a visitor only,
until proof of residency is provided.
Volunteering
Our volunteers are our shining stars, assisting in the office, at the
front desk welcoming guests and members, delivering meals on wheels and helping
to prepare and serve lunch are just a few of their very important
responsibilities.

possible because of our hard working and dedicated volunteers. We currently have these programs:
