Hartwyck is a network of three non-profit, long-term care facilities that
includes more than 600 beds and provides skilled nursing services and a wide
range of specialized programs in pleasant, comfortable surroundings. In addition, each facility is complemented
by the medical and rehabilitation services offered by JFK Medical Center and
the JFK Johnson Rehabilitation Institute.
Specialized programs include adult medical and Alzheimer’s day care,
subacute rehabilitation, extended recovery and transitional living units for
patients of the Center for Head Injuries, long-term ventilation care, and the
state’s first unit dedicated solely to the treatment of patients with

A major
component of the Medical Center, the JFK Johnson Rehabilitation Institute is
nationally known for its comprehensive programs that maximize independence in
children and adults with disabilities.
The Institute, with 94 inpatient beds, extensive outpatient care and
subacute rehabilitation services, is licensed by the state and accredited by
the Joint Commission on Accreditation of Healthcare Organizations and the
Committee on Accreditation of Rehabilitation Facilities in 10 program
areas-more than any other rehabilitation hospital in New Jersey. Among its specialty programs are pediatric,
vocational and industrial rehabilitation services, speech and audiology
evaluation and treatment, sports medicine, driver training, a prosthetics and
orthotics laboratory, and a Center for Head Injuries regarded nationally as a
pioneer in head trauma evaluation and treatment. The Institute also serves as the physical medicine and
rehabilitation department of the University of Medicine and Dentistry of New
Jersey-Robert Wood Johnson Medical School.

This
441-bed facility, known as the Anthony M Yelencsics Community Hospital,
provides a wide spectrum of both inpatient and outpatient programs accredited
by the Joint Commission on Accreditation of Healthcare Organizations. Key programs at the Medical Center include
the Cancer Center, featuring state-of-the-art diagnosis and treatment of
cancer; the New Jersey Neuro-Science Institute at JFK for diagnosis, treatment
and study of complex neurological disease; the Center for Behavioral Health,
providing outpatient treatment of mental health and substance abuse problems;
and the Family Practice Center, which trains physicians in family
medicine. Each year, the Medical Center
